The Arcipretal Church of Santa Maria Assunta is the main religious building in the suburb, an antique parish church of Medieval origin first cited in 1188 and restored in Gothic-Renaissance style by the Bishop Prince Bernardo Cles in 1523.
The Church of Santa Maria Assunta stands on the southern edge of the old neighbourhood of Pez in a central position connecting Prato and Spinazzeda, the other historic suburbs of the town.
The building was mentioned for the first time in a legal deed of 24 June 1188.
